We need to raise awareness about having enough State funding for programs like these. Why aren't we focused on investing more and helping cultivate leaders of the future?

I am a senior citizen living in Berkeley. I am also homeless. I was not aware of the service to seniors who have chronic medical issues, I wish I knew how to participate in this program if it is still available. The suitcase clinic is a wonderful safety net for the homeless population in Berkeley. Please do not cut the funding.

I am a first year student in college with the goal of being a part of this program in the future. Its uniqueness and style of training its students, for me, should be the standards for medical programs in our nation.

I am an aspiring physician who intends to apply to the JMP next year. Simply put, this is how I want to be trained as a physician. JMP nurtures innovation, a deep understanding of social-determinants of health, commitment to community health, and offers an avenue to combine my interests in advocacy, scholarship, and leadership. Please don't eliminate this program, it is my dream education.

I'm a pre-medical student at Cal right now. When I first learned about the JMP, I knew it was for me and I couldn't wait to apply. The opportunities in unique learning that it offers are endless and I couldn't wait to experience them. However, when I learned that the JMP might be cut, I was devastated. Please save the JMP so myself and dozens of other students can go on to work as well-rounded doctors with a strong social conscience!

Class of 1996 masters Few medical programs are so committed to a humanistic, activist, student centered medical education... JMP students have over four decades of outstanding scholarship and public service. The chancellor should be ashamed of himself. The amount he paid for his special fence could've solved the budget gap... Where are the priorities?

I supported the JMP computers for about 12 years when I worked in the School of Public Health. I was always impressed with the dedication of the faculty and students.

The JMP trains talented, thoughtful, socially committed physicians who strive to improve health equity in California. It also garners state funds and tuition that would more than cover its expenses if routed directly to the UCB School of Public Health.

Please save this program. Ending it would be a significant loss for the healthcare leaders that JMP students influence as well as the communities that they serve.

As a UCSF Professor of Health Policy and Pediatrics, I have had the honor of serving as a mentor to many of the students in the JMP and feel that they contribute an incredible unique perspective that is no needed in health care. While UCSF is making major improvements in their curricula, the unique perspective offered through this program would represent a major loss.
