The International Studies Department provides a curriculum that engages students and encourages them to opt for collegiate interests that lead them to "other places" in this world, be it a professional endeavour or travel experience. Throughout my years at the Las Vegas Academy's International Studies Program, as a French major, I can tell you that I heard my share of critique as to why the language departments should not form part of the "arts," while those of us in the program realize that language is the basis for quotidian expression.
