Fulton County Schools: Where Students Come First... Well, this petition is one created by its students. As many have heard, Fulton County wants to stop elementary music programs. This decision has been discussed for years, but it seems as if the Board of Education is finally going with the idea. Fulton County has been receiving budget cuts on a state level, so they’re trying to cut back spending. Middle and high school programs will be receiving cutbacks, and elementary school programs are very likely to be cut entirely. Now, I probably don’t have to tell you all about the benefits that music education offers. That’s for us to tell to Fulton County. The purpose of this petition is to protest these changes. We need to make it clear to Fulton County why so many students are involved with these music programs and how important music education is for students of any age. It’s about the future generations of kids who will be deprived of the music education that made us who we are today. Please help our cause and show Fulton County, which has been placed in the top 100 counties in the country for music education, why music is part of the education process.
