Fine Arts programs play a pivotal role in every child's education & growth. These programs should not be cut or decreased by school system administrators just to save a dollar. If money from the education fund were directed to the high school systems throughout Alabama and not redirected to the general fund (like last year) we wouldn't have so many school budget cuts and teachers would get a better raise.

I'm still trying to figure out how you fire the same teacher who just weeks ago was nominated teacher of the year. Admitting and rectifying mistakes is the sign of a good administration. I'm hoping to see that happen here.

I grew up performing with Brandon. He's talented and driven. Please don't make the mistake of cutting this program or the teacher who built it.

Mr. Bearden deserves his job at PVHS as the band director! He turned our band from just a marching band to a all round fantastic band and now get superior ratings at MPA!

I have known Mr. Triola since 8th grade he was the who made u what u want to be. He was a very creative guy many people like to work with him. He was a person who never gave up on his students. He was like a dad to me he pull me up when i felt down he made me get up stronger. He taught me that laughter is a great part in life.

My biological father has been absent for the past 7 years of my life. I never had a fatherly relationship with anyone. However, this all changed a few months ago. Mr. Bearden has not only been a wonderful teacher, but a wonderful friend. He is the closest thing I have to a father. I look up to him and admire what he does for his students. A year ago, he told me that the band is a family and it will feel like one. I may not like everyone in band but I will support them because that's what a family does. You think your taking away a teacher when really you're taking away the band. If he goes, I quit!

When you have anyone involved in a young persons life that has a positive impact--you don't yank that person out of their lives. It's like picking a peach before it's ripe - it fails to reach its potental!! This is all suspect to me. If this is about budget cuts why would they be from the same department? Good luck with the petition my experience with the Board is they believe they are God!!

As a former student of PVHS I am saddened to hear that two very great and personable teachers have been pink slipped. I wasn't a student of either one of them, however I have spoken to the both of them before and they are both very genuine people. My younger brother had the opportunity to get to know Triola pretty well as he was a student of his when he was at Rudd. My brother connected well with his teacher, especially with them both being as humorous as they are. Everyday when my brother got home from school he would have something to say about either what Mr. Triola had taught, or a new joke/pun he had exchanged with him. It's important to be able to relate to your teachers/students, and it was apparent to me that Triola prioritized building relationships with his students. To my understanding they are both very passionate about what they do/teach and both have very bright ideas/goals. I hate that this has happened, and hope it works out for the best because unfortunately not every teacher is as passionate about their jobs as they are.

I think it is appalling to let people go that are obviously so beloved by their students, the Board needs to take a SERIOUS LOOK at this matter to find out what the REAL PROBLEM is with this POOR DECISION MAKING AT PVHS.

All schools should have Fine Arts programs that are given the same attention as Athletics. I urge the Jefferson County Board of Education to return Mr. Triola, Mr. Bearden, and Mrs. Timothy to their teaching positions to help the students at Pinson Valley have the best fine arts education as possible.
