We, the undersigned citizens of Prescott, AZ resolve that:

1. In the absence of a clearly articulated policy on the approval of artistic content of public works in Prescott, we do not grant the Director of Parks and Recreation the sole right to arbitrate what is and is not acceptible artistic content for public works.

2. The Community Bench, whose construction was approved by the City of Prescott, represents the diversity of citizens in Prescott and should not be removed from Granite Creek Park.

3. Complaints from a vocal minority do not constitute a sufficient reason to remove a public work whose construction has already been approved.

The Director of Parks and Recreation has not responded to our inquiries so we need to increase the pressure. Post this link on your Facebook page and email your city representative to demand they stop the bench removal.

Reaching this milestone shows the city that people are paying attention to the fate of our bench. Post a photo of the bench on Facebook today and tag your local council members to let them know we are not backing down.

Why is the city wasting money on this? Fix the roads instead of worrying about a bench that everyone actually likes.

LEAVE THE BENCH ALONE. It’s part of the park now. DONT REMOVE IT

Ridiculous to move it just because a few people had their feelings hurt. Leave it alone.

The park would be empty without it. Whoever is complaining needs a hobby.

Keep the bench! It brings so much character to the park. Such a waste of city time to even be discussing this.
