Save Kansas City's Historic Swope Park Disc Golf Course

There are plans for a new Swope Course. Bigger, better and stronger!

Please reach an agreement. Swope is a staple in the disc golf community

Find another site for the shelter, it’s big park and the disc course is a great resource for the community!

Please save Swope Pk DGC, I have traveled to KC twice to play in major tournaments and spend a lot money area because of DG.

I have played disc golf since 1995 in Kansas City on and off over the years. Kansas City is one of the best places to play in the world and Swope is a monumental course!

I'm an animal lover, but this is a classic known all over. It would be a huge disappointment if it were closed. No happy medium for a change of layout?

The Swope Park Disc Golf course and the KCPP are both great. Can't we work out something better than this?!

It would be a shame to lose this recreational opportunity.

Why would you raze this property? Too many volunteer hours have gone in to this. My guess is the softball players or soccer players would make as much of an uproar if you sold the areas they use. Please reconsider.

This course is indeed " sacred land in discgolf". Any time I'm any where near Kansas City, I always make time to play here. Coming from western Colorado, my trips to the Midwest are twice a year. Please find other land that would be more suitable for your shelter. Thank you for your time

Don't steal our land. Disc Golf is fun and it's a shame that you'd take it away.

This place is a second home to me and a lot of disc golfers, when it's gone that means I lose not only a home but a piece of my soul. You should know that there will disc golfers just pulling into your parking lot and crying for what was and will never be again.

Room for both.

Some of my happiest memories are summer days playing as many rounds as I could at Swope.

I’ve been traveling to KC from Nashville since 2001 to participate in disc golf events, sometimes for more than the annual KC Open. The disc golf courses in KC are some of the finest in the country. In particular is Swope Park. The hills and mature trees provide the kind of challenge that all disc golfers are looking for. This course is a rarity where park land like this is so hard to find. To lose this facility would be a huge mistake and loss for the community that has been fortunate enough to visit it, as well as a loss for those that may never hear a lion roar from the woods next to you just as you are about to attempt a putt.

Why put animal shelter in a park. Redevelop somewhere else where there's blight. No "new energy" needed at Swope Park.

Parks should be for park activities (including dog walking!), not building strucures that take land, flora, and fauna away. I am a dog lover and understand the need for shelters, but question the use of public park lands to build one. Why not also build a McDonalds and gas station while you're at it? They all equally violate the intent and spirit of a public space set aside for recreation.

Swope Park has history that is significant to many in Kansas City. Why erase it? You can keep it and still have the shelter.

My family loves this course. My kids grew up on it. Why in the world would you destroy something that is so beloved? A shelter can go anywhere so find another spot
