I went to Springfield - I learnt to swim in that pool -it was a highlight of the school week- why ruin something that was such a delight for more children to come ! Save he pool!

Loosing such a valuable resource is a short sighted sticking plaster to increase school places when whats needed alongside increase in population is more schools

Short term gain long term pain . Yet another short sighted decision as a result of squeezed education funding . We live on an island but can't teach the kids to swim !!!

Very sad to hear this news, especially when so many people benefit from learning to swim here. We live on an Island surrounded by sea and an important part of learning is to stay safe around water, surely another pool closure will not be beneficial as it decreases facilities for swimming schools to carry out great work with the children in the city.

It beggars belief that a functional, if ageing, swimming facility is being concreted over to create a sports hall. Swimming is a critical life skill, and I understand that we all work within budgettar constraints, but the cost of an additional sports hall surely dwarfs in comparison to the loss of an almost unique facility for the children in the north of the city.
