The pool is beneficial for the whole community and I believe that every child should be taught to swim.

Swimming pools seem to close for stupid reasons , the pool in question is used a lot and very popular and swimming is more important than a gym , you can run and walk on the path lift weights etc in loads of gyms around or home or schools but u can't swim if you have no pool !!! Save the pool please .

Being able to swim is a crucial life skill and imperative in keeping children safe. Don't close the pool.

Portsmouth has too few swimming facilities as it is. I and many friends learned to swim here, so would be a shame to lose it.

This is a much needed facility in an area which is poorly served in helping to teach swimming in a safe environment.

Swimming is a great all round sport. We need to keep this pool.

As there are few similar swimming pools around/in Portsmouth this pool must be kept open to support the large number of users who would have nowhere else to go.

Please don't close this pool. There are many gyms across Portsmouth and gym facilities that the school could make use of. This is a poor reason to close the Springfield swimming pool. If we need more space for pupils then surely 65 is only a temporary solution for the growing teenage population. Think long term... by funding more quality secondary schools! As we are living by the sea and in a population which is becoming increasingly obese surely we should be increasing the accessibility of swimming as part of the curriculum rather than just concentrating on gyms.

Both myself my wife and my 2 children both learned to swim, life save in Springfield pool going on to become avid surfers, enjoying the water wherever possible. A sad loss loss.
