Where do the children now go to learn to swim if they haven't got transport?

My three children have thrived under the excellent teaching of Katy Sexton Swimming School and are now happy, confident swimmers. The lessons we tried at a leisure centre only perpetuated my children's nervousness and poor swimming and without the use of a pool like Springfield my children would not be the swimmers they are today. They have gained confidence, self esteem and have been encouraged to pursue a healthy lifestyle. Closing Springfields pool is short sighted and its use could be widened to help serve our ageing population too. I would be willing to make a donation to assist its survival.

Closing such an amazing facility Is a greater loss tonthe community It is used by all three of my children, for superb swimming lessons provided by a proven Expert Olympic Gold Medalist. These lessons cannot be equalled by the Local leisure centre in my opinion after completion of early years lessons to age 3. Such Excellent Stamina swimming for more experienced swimmers cannot be found local to Hayling.

Please stop this. The current faculty already houses a sports hall as well as the swimming pool. There are fewer swimming pools across the city due to others being closed and built over. The change in use of the exiting pool site makes NO direct difference to the number of children the school can take ag all. This is a nonsense to put the two together. The council should put the money intended to be spent on converting the building Into their PAN objective instead. We have a national objective to increase the health and range of sporting activities our children can engage in. Taking swimming away goes totally against this aim.

Please keep this pool open - it has supported so many children in the past year. Not only have my two children have used it during their school life there - but it has taught many members of Girlguiding UK to swim who have had lessons there in the pool.

Swimming is a life skill that everyone should have, from a safety point of view as well from the fun and health angle. It's especially important for people living in a coastal city to have the opportunity to acquire this skill, so keep the Springfield pool open!

Portsmouth is an island. Swimming is a skill that all people should have to be able to survive more and more children are loosing the opportunity to learn and loosing this pool would reduce their opportunity even more

Swimming is such an important life skill especially in Portsmouth the waterfront city. Reducing where kids can learn to swim is going to reduce the number who can swim. It is important for safety that children learn to swim.
