So many children have been taught swimming there and it is so important that children can swim as we live so close to the sea

My daughter learnt to swim with Portsmouth Swim School, being a non swimmer myself and living on an island city surrounded by sea. I thought it was so important that my child and every other child should learn how to swim. More facilities like this should be opened and not closed!

Don't get rid of this pool! I spent my childhood here learning how to swim from 4 years old up until I was 11 years old. If this pool was not here, I wouldn't be where I am today. From swimming at that pool, I progressed into competitive swimming which would not of been possible without having that pool there to learn in. Don't demolish something that has developed a lot of people over the years.

This pool needs to stay open for the school and the community. If funds are an issue, I'm sure the community would be happy to fundraise.

I think it is vital for children to have somewhere to learn to swim.

There should be more encouragement for kids to swim, and get exercise; don't close the pool.

Three generations of my family learnt to swim here. There are county and regional swimmers who attend this school also...what a waste.

This pool enables school children and communities the opportunity to learn to swim, get exercise and socialise, I learnt to swim in this pool and have enjoyed the facilities, it would be a true shame to take this away, an Springfield student went on to compete in the Olympics and this was their regular pool. Please support the community Many thanks

There are not a lot of school pools on the portsmouth area which makes it hard to find spaces for toddlers/children to learn to swim. By shutting this pool it will be even harder

This pool is used by too many children to close it!

Too many pools are being shut, children need to have access to more sporting facilities.

Save the swimming pool as there is room to build a sports hall in the school grounds and I was a pupil and went swimming at the pool from infant school and attended Springfield as a pupil

There are not enough local places for kids to learn to swim. Thousands of kids have learnt to swim in this pool and it should not be closed

This swimming pool has served the community for years. The pool is beneficial to everyone. Swimming is a brilliant form of exercise and an important life saving skill

It is important that we keep the pool, swimming is a life skills that needs all children need to learn. I am a swimming teacher / coach and the amount of children in portsmouth that are scared of the water or cannot swim is horrible as we live on an island and we are surrounded by water. We need to keep pools running to help children learn a life skills.
