We live by the sea & need our children/grandchildren to be able to learn to swim

I understand the financial constraints on schools but this is a short-term fix with long-term consequences. Neither Springfield governors nor the LEA will be able to reverse this devastating decision. I urge you to think again.

Many schools are crying for a pool like this. I thought the aim was to encourage children to be active. I suppose the powers that be will say it's all to do with cost but at the end of the day it's about children growing up in a healthy environment. The decision to close this pool is so very wrong. Will the next step be the selling off of the sports field. And finally it's so important that every child is taught how to swim.

Remember swimming here as a kid. My children will soon be at the school so would be good to see them swimming there as well.

I live the next road along from Springfield school. I hope that one day my children will attend Springfield and would like them to experience having a swimming pool/lessons at school.

We moan all the time about how unfit all our children are Yet we are allowing this headmistress to close a swimming Pool I think the government needs to step in here to

As like many I grew up having lessons in this pool, through extra caricular, lessons in jr school, and lessons in school. I understand the need for extra space but forgive me, I can't see how having an extra sports hall when there are already 3-4 other big spaces is going to do any help. Can the money not be used to get the pool into a working, sustainable condition?

My son was due to start lessons with Katy Sexton but couldn't because the pool closed.

This is an essential facility that provides an opportunity for all within the Springfield Community to learn and develop a lifelong skill. Being safe in water and to enjoy the benefits that this activity offers is so important to all - young and old.

This pool should be kept open for all the children. Learning to swim is really important for their own safety.
