Save Springfield School Pool, Portsmouth

The children need to be able to swim both for education and relaxing. Please ask again why are you stopping this pool? The may have a gym but that is not enough for children.

This needs to stay it helps so many children to learn how to swim both outside of school and the pupils that attend!

This pool has been used by so many school children,would be such a disgrace to close it,it's helped so many children

So more children don't get the chance to learn to swim or no PE at school ! Keep the pool spend a little money and fix it so it doesn't keep breaking down !

I learnt to swim in this pool and a youngster and my swimming career took off with being able to compete with some great swimming all the way up to the age of 19, swimming against the likes of Katy sexton and getting to meet some of the most inspirational people in my sport, like mark foster and Rebecca adlington.

This important part of the community

So short-sighted! The pool offers the students and others an essential and safe environment for swimming lessons, fitness and promoting a healthy lifestyle. We need more school pools, not less!

Please don't take another important part of our children's lives away The government are always saying our population are becoming obese And yet here they are threatening to take a great way of exercising

An essential skill for which I was personally taught at school in this pool. Stop removing useful services that benefit thousands

It is a travesty that closing the pool should even be considered. It is part of the National Curriculum and a vital life skill that could save the life of our own children. Maybe the Council should actually consider additional funding to improve the facilities rather than just destroy them

My daughter started to learn to swim here when she was a toddler on a Sunday morning. Now she is a swimming instructor there. It would be a shame to shut this pool as leisure centers do not have the personal touch.

This pool is a very important part of the local community, if the Council do not want to run it, then turn it into a charity run pool.

Other areas of the school could be built on or extended to provide space for the extra children/Gym without having to lose the Pool. PCC should be actively tackling obesity, surely that means adding to existing sports facilities? The Pool is profitable too.

Springfield pool provided PE training and brought in athletes from a variety of backgrounds. It was essential in teaching us water safety, an important part of life near the sea, and a place of practice for accomplished visiting alumni (including Katie Sexton), as well as local schools. If there are ways that alumni, parents and local citizens can get behind keeping the pool, whether by raising funds or other means of support, I think I speak for many when I say we would be more than willing to help sustain this resource.

I have used and taught in this many times, I know people who have learned to swim here and it would effect many people!!

This is important to the whole area, there should be more pools not less in a seaside area

If it wasn't for this swimming pool I wouldn't have learnt to swim..I was always scared of the water, until I was a student at the school. We need pools in our schools.

Working in a special needs school, I know how important swimming is to a child's education and lifestyle! It promotes physical development but also a brilliant way to socialise, build self-confidence and allows experiences some children may not get in homelife. Every child should have the opportunity to swim in education! Too much of an important resource to get rid of!
