Save Springfield School Pool, Portsmouth

Don't close this pool. Invest in it instead of another gym! Both my children went here for regular swimming lessons when they were small. It is a great location, surrounded by several local schools and clubs who use it frequently. It would be to the detriment of our children & community - keep it open!

Both my children learnt to swim at Springfield & they are now instructors at one of the groups that hire the pool. Without the pool there will be so many children missing out on learning to swim as most schools only offer one or two weeks lessons.

Keep the swimming pool open I went to this school in the 90s they had a hall where we done p.e during school time it was also available in school holidays too carry on using that

A real shame to close the pool and very short-sighted response to growing pupil numbers.

My kids love swimming there and it closer to home

Very poor communication, particularly by School Head and Governors, both have been invisible during this critical time. We now find this proposal has been under consideration since Spring 2015 and not a word to interested parties, like parents, pupils, staff, community users etc.. The Governors, of which the Head Mistress is the leader, have an obligation and duty to to inform all interested parties - According to the Governments Handbook for School Governors.

It will be really sad to see the Springfield pool closing. I sign the petition to save the Springfield swimming pool. Thanks

I taught Scuba Diving in the pool, great asset for local community.

My boys really miss their swimming lessons and haven't been able to go since last summer.

Short sighted decision with too few swimming facilities in Portsmouth schools.

I think every child should have swimming lessons. There are so few pools for the children and general public that the closure of any pool could only be a bad thing. The fact that Springfield has a pool gives children the chance, on site, to learn a valuable asset which could save their lives. Please don't shut such a convenient and positive thing as your pool.

Very important children have a swimming pool during their education.

I went to Springfield in the 90s and started using this pool when I was at Court Lane. Keep the pool open for the benefit of the children....

Closing the pool to open a few more pupil spaces would be unfair to the current and future generations of pupils, as well as local clubs and school who regularly use the facility.
