I wears at Springfield and learned so much. Keep the pool as it made me learn to swim.

I learnt to swim here, so did my sister and many of my friends.

Used to go to school there, many moons ago. Brilliant school and this is one of the things that made it great.

This is awful and I am asking you to support this petition. As many of you know Brain Tumour Research teamed up with Katy Sexton MBE and Katy Sexton Swim Academy back in May 2016. The partnership was formed in support of Katy's sister Kelly Louise Lee, who was diagnosed with a pituitary gland tumour at the age of 29. This partnership led to Katy creating our first youth led Swimmathon Challenge in Portsmouth! This challenge raised £5,000 and all whilst these enthusiastic children were keeping fit and learning to swim! In simple terms, without this pool, the Swim Academy would be at risk, without the Swim Academy, 162 children wouldn’t of fundraised for this charity and without the fundraising, Brain Tumour Research would not have received £5,000! Now, I accept this is only one example of how vital this pool is to the local committee, but I urge you to sign this petition and take a stand against this decision. We are quick enough to moan that their isn't enough for young children to do in the community and that obesity is on the rise... have your voice today! Thank you.

I learnt to swim here - and it would be very sad for children of Springfield school to not have the same opportunity

It would be a sad loss to the school and the wider community if this swimming pool were closed. Swimming is a life saving skill and too many venues are shutting down.

Such a shame this is to close. Both my kids have learnt to swim with Southern Swim Schools. Swimming is a vital life lesson, and perhaps even more vital to Portsmouth considering it is surrounded by water. Hopefully the governors / decision makers will reconsider the decision.

New headteacher seems to be taking away anything the school has had that's an achievement to the local community & school.

Both my children learnt to swim at Springfield thanks to Southern Swim Schools. Swimming is a vital life lesson. Hopefully the governors / decision makers can reconsider.

I used to go to this school and enjoyed swim PE, would be a shame for other kids / people to miss out, because of this.

A real shame to lose this

To close such a valuable place that encourages our children to keep fit and active whilst learning a life skill is ridiculous. It is somewhere the wider community can use and the school profit from and yet another swimming pool in our area gone

My swimming grade has really boosted my overall GCSE PE grade and other people should have the opputunity to do the same.

As a footnote: We have been unable to obtain copies of Governors' Meetings Minutes and Actions over the last two years, where this idea was presumably discussed. Even our request for a schedule of Governors Meetings was ignored by the school. Subsequently, we made a Freedom of Information Request (FOI) via the City Council who were unable to obtain the information and they have advised that we consider pursuing this issue with the Information Ombudsman.
