Please save this swimming pool. Many children & young adults outside of the school use it to learn to swim as well as the students of Springfield school.

I was taught in this pool and my children will be. The nearest pool is miles away and the cost of bussing children over is unnecessary.

It's very upsetting to hear that the decision has been taken to close the pool. The swimming pool is a focal point for the local community and has offered both children and adults the opportunity to learn to swim for decades. Getting rid of the pool will result in families having to travel longer distances for swimming lessons and the inconvenience that this will inevitably create could put many families off of pursuing swimming lessons. The ability to swim is a vital skill, especially as we live on the coast, and it's important that people learn how to stay safe near water. These lifesaving skills are vital.
Whilst the pool is obviously very expensive to maintain, it brings many benefits to the local economy with lots of people signing up to the various swimming schools and clubs that use the pool. This also creates jobs locally for swimming instructors. Swimming is a fantastic form of exercise and, with obesity becoming a growing problem in the UK, it is critical that the council doesn't remove one of the only facilities for young people in Drayton.
Furthermore, the swimming pool helps Springfield to offer a wide range of sports during PE lessons. Many people, including myself, enjoyed swimming during PE lessons and it would be a great shame and a great loss for the community if this option was no longer open to pupils. I understand that more school places are required, however, the swimming pool makes Springfield attractive and is a fantastic asset to the school and the wider community. I would also be very interested to hear how the council actually expects to create 65 more school places by turning the swimming pool into a gym when the school already has a sports hall.

Why waste money - it's a water gym! All youngsters should know how to swim, especially living, surrounded by water. I've taught many a Beaver, Cub and some Scouts to swim in your pool - over many years - ideal size and safe. Spend the money on mending, not changing. A backward step if it goes!!

What a shame...this will impact not only the swim schools, Springfield but also court lane juniors as they use this facility for year 5 swimming.

This pool is needed and was regularly used by my 2 girls before the temporary closure!! I do not think the head or governors/ management have the moral right to close this pool when it is needed and well used as they are only the current custodians. This pool should be available for future generations well after the current custodians have left.

This is on behalf of my 2 girls who will be attending the school in future and on behalf of their swimming club little Monsters which they have been unable to swim due to this. The more children that attend Springfield the more there is a requirement for a pool. Please keep it open for the wider community also. Thanks

A school in such an affluent area should have its own swimming pool.
