Spent many hours in this as a pupil; where are pupils going to go if this gets closed?

A totally valuable asset for children within the community for whom learning to swim is a life skill. As an ex-Springfield pupil it is a place where I attended swimming galas, learnt to swim and train for my swim club.

This pool is a benefit to the students and the school as a whole. Outside use teachers so many children to swim!

This pool is far better than a gym. There can be more done to prevent its closure. Fund raising events like school fetes or bake sales can help. Also it gets the pupils involved if you have them think up ways to solve it too

I learnt to swim in this pool and so did my daughter. We went there as a school and used the pool with swimming clubs as well. I feel the school should have a swimming pool well else are children going to learn to swim locally??

It would be so sad to lose this wondeful resource. It is so important for our children to swim confidently. A swimming pool is such an asset to the school.

Keith Taylor HOW DISGUSTING I help to rasie the money to pay for this how are our children going to learn to swin. we live on a Island every child should be able to swin before the leave school KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF

Im a 43 years old and went to Solent Road School and Springfield School and we used this swim pool as part of our PE lessons... it was a vital part of learning to swim I also continued to swim here through a swim club...up until 6 months go my daughter was also learning to swim here through Southern Swim School
I'm so dissapointed to hear of this news learning to swim is a life skill and great exercise for children.
I just find this unacceptable.. please re-think

I went to school here and was captain of one of the school swim teams at one point.
They can't close this pool.
The school my son currently goes to has its own pool and is used by many many people

I learnt to swim at Springfield pool in the 70's and used the pool when I attended Springfield school in the eighties, and both my children have learnt to swim there. Would be a great shame to lose it, when many more children can learn a life saving skill there.

It makes no sense to me to destroy a facility like this that is a bonus to the school and area. I realise the cost cutting of its upkeep and income from 65 more pupils must be a pull to the number crunchers but when its gone it will never be replaced. 2nd thoughts on this please.
