Please don't shut this pool, all 3 of my children learnt to swim there and would not have had the opportunity if had not have been there

Use to swim here when at school . Will be a great loss if it closes

I trained there, as a kid, with Portsmouth Northsea. While I recognise that maintenance is expensive, having an on-site pool encourages swimming as a sport rather than just a skill to allow you splash around on holiday. Swimming at school makes it available to all, not just those whose parents are willing and able to take their kids.

What a shame to close such a valuable asset to the community and school. Learning to swim saves lives, gym does not. Living in a coastal region it is even more important as many children as possible learn to swim.

Quite a few of my family members attended this school and our family contributed to the fund raising to get the pool built. I am unable to see how making it into a gym will make room for 65 more pupils. Much more important to teach children how to swim, they live on an island for goodness sake.

Both my daughters attend swimming lessons here and want this pool to remain available for future lessons with the wonderful swimming coach Sandra.

Living up north now, but born and bred in the city of Portsmouth. Feel this is terrible news. I swam here, my siblings all did, two learning how to swim in this pool. Not only is it that, but swimming is important, the community and the school need a pool far more than 65 school places. It is a disgrace, that in an age where health is very important, the council and the school are taking such a decision as this, talking money making above the well being of pupils and the public.

This is a great swimming pool for the area and my daughter was taking lessons to learn to swim here. She is only 6 years old and she progress well and to almost swimming and this has been taken away from her.

This is a poorly thought through decision which needs to be reversed. Nostalgia aside (I learnt to swim there a thousand years ago), the pool teaches children survival skills, develops an interest in sport, promotes team work, healthy competition and is the hub of the school. Gyms are important too but that can be built on a section of the field. The swimming pool is the school's point of difference and offers students opportunities for a wider variety of healthy, fun experiences which they may not have if it goes.

North Portsmouth cannot afford to lose this pool. My children learned to swim here and it serves the community and youngsters well. Please keep this pool open

lovely pool, with a great viewing platform. Can't believe they are getting rid of a good pool, especially having spent a significant amount of money sorting out the original leak.

Disgusted that this is closing. I spent many a happy hour learning to swim at Springfield whilst I was a pupil there in the eighties and was so happy to take my sons there for lessons 10 years later. Just wrong that it's closing. A valuable and much needed asset in the north of the city.

I implore those who have made this decision to reconsider . This pool is a valuable asset and should be retained at all costs.
