Save it

There is no practical alternative to having the pool. Bussing pupils to and from other pools takes more time and means it simply won't happen.

I feel that this is a very short sited decision and feel very sad that the local community and Springfield school will loose a valuable resource.

Having a swimming pool in a secondary school is very important to all people in the local area especially the pupils, even more so when living by the coast.

North Portsmouth need somewhere for their school swimming lessons. Springfield have a massive field that a new sports hall could be built on.

I learnt to swim at my school Barncroft and believe it to be essential for children and adults alike. Keep these pools open.

I was taught to swim in this pool as a kid and I want the same for my son. To many things are being sacrificed for savings and happiness and childhoods are being taken away with them.

Living so close to the sea children need swimming lessons they just want to be able to cram more kids in make the classes bigger and expect the teachers to just get on with it it's no wonder we have a major shortage of teachers I wouldn't want their jobs now

There are not enough swimming pools in this city as it is. Closing this one would be a crime and possible stop our kids from learning to swim, risking their own lives and perhaps helping others in distress.

I learnt to swim here and loved when I had swimming lessons at school it was nice to be doing something different for PE rather than being stuck in a sports hall playing bench ball!

Do they not know how important it is to teach children to swim. I honestly believe it is just as important to teach children to swim as it is teaching them the ABC.

What a shame to close another swimming pool in the area

I used to go here with school and I learnt to swim here, I also learnt to belly flop like a fool in front of everyone and give myself a nose bleed, all because I decided to tell them I could swim and I couldn't. Don't lie you always get found out, that's another lesson I learnt all because of this pool!!!

I learnt to swim here as a pupil of Springfield and now my children have lessons here with Southern Swim Schools. This is a vital resource in the north of the city as it's a good size pool.

It is a great facility to the community that needs a little love and attention! I learnt to scuba dive there and both my children, with many of their friends, have swimming lessons there. It will be a travesty to the northern Portsmouth community to lose this facility. Don't turn it into another gym, that people won't use, in an already diluted market!
