KEEP THE TRADITION! Shannon is an amazing person and worked hard to obtain her achievements. Her hard work should be rewarded as all of the past valedictorians have.
Ok...I understand the disappointment...But giving the valedictorian speech is not a "right" as stated several times; It's an earned privilege and should be treated as such. There's a big difference. The valedictorian should know this...just my opinion

Contact the school board as well as the district supervisor. Make as much noise as you can. This is NOT acceptable and you earned this! Sadly now you are forced to fight for it!

Traditions are traditions for a reason, and this one shows the hard work and dedication a child has put into four years of his or her life. This tradition honors that child and allows for her friends and family to bask in the glory of not only her sacrifice, but theirs as well. To not allow Shannon to speak is only sending children the message that hard work is never honored or acknowledged. Let Shannon present her valedictory speech alongside those who have won any competition, and let her have her moment of glory.

I hope, on graduation day, that YOU get to walk on that stage, with pride and fulfillment. You deserve to make yourself heard as valdectorian.

I'm a former student from FHS, and I find this to be very disappointing. You're the valedictorian so YOU should be able to give your speech. It's ridiculous that they are auditioning other students to do the speech. PLUS they didn't even inform you about it. There are so many things wrong with this situation.... Bad decision FHS!
