No Shopping Centre for Seville
A property developer (Lascorp) has asked the Yarra Range Council for permission to build a Woolworths shopping centre covering all the vacant land in the heart of Seville.
At the heart of the development is a major supermarket plus 17 shops and a huge petrol station and car wash!
All for a community of little more than 900 houses!
This development would bring suburbia to the rural village of Seville and threaten the future of many locally-owned businesses and associated jobs along the Warburton Valley. The Council is requesting feedback from the community before it makes a decision.
By signing this petition you are requesting the Yarra Ranges Shire Council refuse the development application and send a message to government everywhere.

I just blinked and saw we hit a hundred signatures which is honestly wild because when I started this I figured it might just be me and my neighbor complaining at the fence. It feels good to know there are actual people here who care about keeping the village the way it is instead of letting a giant developer concrete over everything.

I spent the last few hours looking at the map of that proposed site again and it just feels completely wrong for our little town plus the idea of a petrol station right there is honestly making my head spin. I have been fielding so many messages from neighbors who are worried about their own small shops and honestly it feels like we are shouting into the void while the council keeps their cards close to the chest.

I just looked at the count and we are just about at a hundred names which is wild because I honestly thought it would take way longer to get people looking at this thing. Everything is moving so fast and it feels like if we can just get a few more eyes on this right now we might actually have a shot at making the council realize that nobody wants a giant petrol station ruining the village vibe.

Ridiculous idea. Our roads cant handle that kind of traffic. council needs to listen to the actual people who live here for once.
900 houses do not need a massive shopping centre. They just want to make money and destroy what makes this place special. Say no to Lascorp.

What about the local shops already here? This will kill off the small businesses that actually care about our community. stop the greed.

NO WAY. we moved to seville for the quiet vibe not more traffic and noise. go build this somewhere else.
