My daughters are on the pre-team and this is the first organized activity that they truly look forward to and ask, “Is it swim day today?” A main reason we went with this program is because of the facility. Hopefully the board will realize the value in swimming as a sport and this facility.

I swam in the pool for years as a kid. Many kids have for years. To remove it would be detrimental to the community.

Honorable Martin County School Board: Drowning in young children is such a prevalent event, that swimming should be a mandatory subject in every school PE curriculum. Miami Herald columnist Mr. Howard Cohen reported 09/18/2018 A 2-year-old boy wanders into a Pembroke Pines pool area and drowns during a Fourth of July party. A 3-year-old boy drowns in a Key Colony Beach canal mere moments after his family arrived from Georgia for a Florida Keys vacation. A 2-year-old girl is found at the bottom of a Miami Gardens pool. It didn’t have a security fence." "These are three of 51 fatal child drownings in Florida pools or spas in 2017, a 20 percent spike compared to 2016 when there were 40 fatal child drownings in the state. With pools, lakes and year-round swimming weather, Florida easily tops northern states." CDC, Home & Recreational Safety reported: "Every day, about ten people die from unintentional drowning. Of these, two are children aged 14 or younger. Drowning ranks fifth among the leading cause of unintentional injury death in the United States (1)" How big is the problem? • From 2005-2014, there were an average of 3,536 fatal unintentional drownings (non-boating related) annually in the United States — about ten deaths per day.1 An additional 332 people died each year from drowning in boating-related incidents.2 • About one in five people who die from drowning are children 14 and younger.1 For every child who dies from drowning, another five receive emergency department care for nonfatal submersion injuries.1 • More than 50% of drowning victims treated in emergency departments (EDs) require hospitalization or transfer for further care (compared with a hospitalization rate of about 6% for all unintentional injuries).1,2 These nonfatal drowning injuries can cause severe brain damage that may result in long-term disabilities such as memory problems, learning disabilities, and permanent loss of basic functioning (e.g., permanent vegetati

this is needed in our community, our swimmers need the time to practice that they receive now . This sport has made my grand daughter feel part of something special the encouragement that is given to each member of the team far exceeds other activities she has been involved in her these children root for each other, Win or lose they are shown support . the swim, great excerise, along with getting children to east healthy. this team sport teaches all that. The fees are within reach for all families, will they be at the water park? And you ant to take this away for a parking lot.

Don't close the pool at MCHS. Our students deserve to have a pool in their school.

We need more pools to keep the kids busy doing something great for the body, mind for their futures. No closing, instead open more pools then we can have more options.

This is the only pool that offers an adult swim club in the mornings before people go to work! Sailfish splash lap swim is only open after people have already gone to work or when the teams and clubs are swimming. It’s extremely crowded.

Keep Sailfish Splash. The kids need this! Martin County is all about water and safety. Taking this away will be a bitter disappointment
