This is an asset to our community. If forced to go to water parks, how many schools will we be trying to get time with. This pool has been at Martin high school for so long. It's a tradition. Our kids take great pride in being part of the swim team at the high school

The MCHS pool has been an integral part of Martin County High School for decades. It is truly worth its weight in gold and should be considered an asset to the school and the community.

Outrageous. Like never before, our kids need an outlet. Not one child that I know who swims competitively hasn’t gone on to do great things. It teaches discipline, hard work, dedication and responsibility. Please don’t start taking away the things that make our county strong and our kids stronger.

Having family in Martin County for years I have seen this every hand full of years. Having been a club swimmer for years and a division 1 college swimmer it is beyond me on why this continues to be an issue after all these years. Additionally my 4 children have all swam and one is currently on the Lakeland High School swim team. First, the discipline swimming gave me and my kids there is no other sport that can compare. Second, this pool was a donation and to disrespect the donors would be a disgrace. Third, with childhood obesity there is no other sport that compares. Fourth, in Polk county unfortunately none of the schools have pools on campus. This limits and makes it impossible for many especially underprivileged students to be able to swim.
Thank you for your consideration.

I think people need to think about how much the pool at the high school as impacted a bunch of great kids not to mention how many of them have gotten into college for swimming.

Please don't close the pool. Swim day is about the only time Extended Day goes out. It is such a treat for the children. And sorry to say, but that is about the only entertainment.

Please keep the pool open and consider opening more pools as the community grows instead! The benefits of swimming are countless, but let’s start with the obvious: safety!
Drowning is a leading cause of death among children, including infants and toddlers (Source: American Academy of Pediatrics, and Center for Disease Control and Prevention among others). Teaching drowning prevention in a bathtub is not definitively as efficient as in a pool. The community needs to keep the pools open.
The benefits of swimming go beyond the sport. As a swim parent, I have had the chance to witness it first hand. Swimming has given plenty to my kids. They have learned about work ethics, commitment, discipline, setting up goals and working to reach them, learning from the little bumps in the road, camaraderie, team support, assisting others, time management, being active, and responsibility. Plenty of tools to carry on throughout their lives and friends for ever.
Swimmers are a very special class, but they need pools to keep growing and developing not only as athletes, but as persons with great character.
