Sailfish has no more room. More schools should have their own pools.

Throughout the years, the Martin County High School swim team and club have been very competitive in this arena and have made our county very proud of their teams. The reason for this is due to pool accessibility and pool availability. With regards to accessibility, the convenience of the pool on campus allows more of our children the opportunity to enjoy the health benefits of swimming and not have to find means to travel to another facility. With regards to availability, even with the addition of Sailfish, if the Dick Well Training Center is closed, there will be less time for our teams to practice and exhibit their potential as swimmers and enjoy a sport they love.

As a family of swimmers we can appreciate the necessity for pools. Also to have it available for the community is a valuable service in protecting our children through education. This provides an environment for teaching the youth of tomorrow.

Please keep the pool open. * Adults start their day at 5:00 a.m. with a workout when the pool opens! * Swim teams and swim clubs use the pool * you can’t swim in the river, lagoon, or ocean with all the green algae Please, please, please continue to keep Martin County High School Pool OPEN for ALL swimmers. Thank you.

Closing the pool is taking away an amazing opportunity for the kids of martin county. The time in the water would be significantly reduced if forced to share with sail fish. Safer, healthier sport, and lower cost than football fields. And used annually not seasonally. Thank you

There is too much of a demands for space at Sailfish. Loosing Martin county pool will only make it worse. Not enough room for public swim, diving , scuba, synchro, school swim teams, college teams , meets. If we loose Martin some sports will be cut I'm afraid ! This community has the need for 2 pools

Martin County needs to keep the Dick Wells Community pool open. As a community, we are already pushing the limits of pool availability. So many of our kids and adults use this pool on a daily basis, not only for school team practice, but for extra curricular swimming on club teams and for others, overall health maintenance! It doesn’t seem fair to single out a budget for the pool when other sports fields/equipment/gyms are paid for from a single budget! Keep all sports under a single “umbrella”.

The pool is a great part of our community. Perhaps a High School swimmer would like to make a video highlighting benefits of the pool to our community.

It would be such a shame to close this pool down. It is doing so much good for these kids. The kids who participate from the school have to maintain good grades, are less likely to get into trouble, and have lower rates of childhood obesity. Find the funds from elsewhere, but to close the pool would be a real shame.

absolutely outrageous idea of closing the pool . Kids need to be involved in sport activities or we will have a next generation of drug addicts .

Water is a very important part of south Florida with the ocean, rivers and home pools. Learning how to swim and developing that skill as a team sport is important to our community. Please keep the MCHS pool open.

It is very disappointing that it’s even being considered to being closed. Our local community requires pools for many reasons. Safety, fun, swim team training and diving lessons. It is not possible to do this with all local youth at one location. Please take this off the table.
