My grandfather was part of the Kiwanis Club that got the Martn County Pool started. It was built so that every child in Martin county could learn to swim. Swimming lessons are still being taught at this pool. In the 80’s, I took swimming lessons there. Just about every person that spent their childhood in Martin County has had swimming lessons there. I am now raiding 4 kids in Martin County and all 4 have spent many hours and have many memories at this pool. The pool needs to remain open for future generations to enjoy. Also, logistically, at least 2 swim clubs and 4 schools could not share the 1 pool at sailfish splash. There has to be another alternative. Save the Pool!!!

We need to Keep this pool my three kids swim year round .Sailfish will be too crowded and swimmers will not get quality practice/swims in to be able to compete at there highest level ,There goes a shot at a college scholarship.Sailfish is nice but it’s not enough to serve our community

Our family has had 3 generations of swimmers in the Martin County pool. It is a staple of this community and should be preserved for its history as well as its utility to the public, especially our youth. Dick Wells would be extremely disappointed with this selfish decision, especially since his own daughter still coaches there and his granddaughter swims and helps coach as well. As for me, my father swam there since 1980, started me swimming there in the early mornings of 1985, and just last week had the opportunity to watch his own 5 year old grandkids get in the pool and be taught to swim by Coach Wells’ daughter, who also taught me to swim when I was 2. Dick Landry is another familiar face on the deck right now if you had any involvement with the pool over the last 4 decades other than just trying to shut it down. He swam with my dad nearly every morning since the early 80’s and is presently a volunteer coach for the team. My point is, this pool has a great living history. It truly does span generations now. Additionally, it is a tremendous resource still to our youth, who as a whole struggle now more than ever to have an unobstructed, wholesome, healthy team experience. The Martin County pool has given community members purpose; it has given people focus and outlet for stress; it has awarded tradition and friendship spanning decades and of course it continues to provide one of the safest forms of cardiovascular exercise to this growing community that sports has to offer. There are going to be some very disappointed people to see you in office for any further terms if this decision is made. Trust me.

My grandchildren use this pool as do others who would be negatively impacted by its closure. Sailfish Park is too crowded with other activities to be a viable alternative. We are surrounded by water & children should learn to be proficient in the water.

It would be a one to remove this athletic opportunity from the children and community. Sailfish already runs at capacity with practices for swim, dive, and synchronized swimming Monday through Friday.

This pool means everything to a lot of families in Martin County and it is crucial that it remains open. For the sake of our children keep this pool open.

This pool is an asset to the community and our children. Swimming is such a healthy sport, and we need to provide ever opportunity we can to stay active!

My 10 year old son loves swimming with his swim team. The Dick Wells training Center pool is a fantastic place for the kids to gather and exercise together. Closing off access to this pool would have a direct impact on so many families in Martin County. My son goes to swim lessons here at MCHS 4-5 days per week, which is necessary for him to stay fit, learn and practice important techniques, and build on skills previously learned. If you close off access to this pool, our family will struggle to be able to afford and bring him to his beloved swim practice each day. Sailfish splash is more expensive and further away. Please don't close off such a wonderful place for the kids to exercise. I know you all obviously care about our children's futures, and their health. This pool matters greatly to our community and closing off access to it would be such a waste of an opportunity. Swimming in Florida is a must! It's so hot here! Why close off access to such a vital community resource?

Pool is a plus for the community. I pay $384.00 year to swim here and consider this a community plus.
