Im an alumni of 5 years, and this pool made me who I am today. I had to fight for this pool to stay open when I was in highschool, and I’ll fight again. I cant say enough about how much we still need this space (even with Sailfish Splash).

All of my four 'kids' and my four g'kids have benefited greatly from access to a community pool - recreation, water safety, sport, community spirit and connectiveness, Save the pool.

I learned to swim at the Martin County pool. It does get too crowded at Sailfish.

I think they should keep the pool. Speaking from experience i am currently on the south fork swim team and between our team and Jensen beach team we take up all of the lines. By adding one more school, would be very challenging and we won’t be able to get things done. They deserve to keep the pool they have. Most people think swimming is not a sport but it is we practices 5 times a week and we use a lot of upper body strength. Swimming is such an amazing sport you build so many friendships and creative this bond that you wouldn’t be able to get the chance to do so with any other team! County needs the pool:)

Save this pool not only for the community but for the children who use same for the swim team!!! My daughter is one of those children and it would break her heart to lose a sport that she loves and is great exercise. Think of the children who benefit from having the pool!

The pool is an existing asset that benefits our community. Funding should be allocated for it’s continued use.

Good evening: Thank you for sharing your concerns about the swimming pool at Martin County High School. The importance of our community weighing in with their thoughts and insights cannot be stressed strongly enough. And, thank you for taking the time and effort to articulate your concerns regarding this topic. The item is currently scheduled for discussion at the September Regular School Board Meeting on Tuesday, September 18 which begins at 4pm. I do not anticipate that the Board Discussion will occur until after 5pm, which is the time for designated for the Public to speak at the Meeting. All Action Items that come before the Board have a recommendation from the Superintendent. The Superintendent's recommendation on this is to NOT close the pool. Of course, you are welcome to come and speak if you wish. This item has been brought forward several times before. As background information, of which you might not be aware, part of the rationale for the building of Martin County's Sailfish Splash was that the condition of the pool at Martin County High School was such that it would be closing in the near future. This piece of misinformation has lead to continued discussions and a rehashing over the last eight years and caused concern and anxiety regarding the future of the pool. In my short four years on the School Board, I've listened to the back and forth about promoting healthy lifestyles, swimming as a sport, comparisons between Sailfish Splash and the MCHS pool, importance of learning to swim in a community where water is so prevalent, and so on. I've also heard about the costs of upkeep, perceived declining use of the pool, allocation of limited assets, liability concerns, and so on. While all of those are points that are well-made, please allow me the opportunity to express my personal views. 1. While the school district does not provide facilities for every sport (think rowing or bowling) and requires that many participants use a non-dis

I swam for the swim team in 2015. Please do not close the pool. This was a great experience for me and helped me through hard times. I fully support keeping the MCHS pool open.
