Swimming is an important competitive sport. Athletes need the room to practice and enough room to be able to improve their times.

The pool is a vital aspect to the sport of swimming, not only for training and practice but for competition. There are only so many swimmers that can use a pool during after and before school/work hours.

As the Head Coach of Jupiter Dragons Swim Team and Jupiter High School Swimming I believe closing the Martin County High School Pool would be a big mistake for not only the school but the Stuart community.
I know many generations of locals have swum there, making the pool part of history.
Closing this pool would not only mean Martin County High School students not having access to a pool, but also depriving the people of Stuart of a Very Successful Swim Team offering year round programs for All Ages!
The ability to educate the students about water safety at the Martin County High School pool as well as having a swim team is crucial in the drowning prevention initiatives aimed at providing the opportunity for every child in America to learn to swim!
I know very well the coaching staff of Martin County High School and Martin County Swimming for more than 15 years and I can state that they and the team have served the needs of Martin County High School as well as the residents of Stuart to the Very Best!
Please keep the pool open!

I thought I might add the people who take care of the pool all year round. McCombs, Llang and proctor. They’re always at the pool, coaching and keeping it up to date and clean. They put so much time and energy into it, taking it away is like taking somebodies biggest dream away.

I moved to Martin County for all 4 years of high school from Colorado. I didn’t have many friends, or know much about the school but I knew there was a sport I needed to do. I choose diving which introduced me to swimming. From that pool I met coach McCombs and Llang. Those are the two best coaches and people I’ve ever met, including the diving coach Murray who set me on my path for success. I started getting into competitive swimming my sophomore year of high school and with countless hours and practices under those coaches at the Martin county pool I had the chance to place 4th at states against others that have been swimming twice as long as I have. That pool started my swimming career and every chance I have to see that pool again I take it. I’m just one example of someone who became something through that pool and the people affiliated with it. There are scuba classes held, there are masters, triathletes who train there. You’re not just taking away a pool, you’re taking away so much more. Now I’m training for the Olympic trials through the motivation coach McCombs gave me at that pool and there are so many more I’ve swam with who are achieving great things through that facility. There’s nothing more important than the history of that pool and the future opportunities it will bring, and that is why this pool is so important to so many. It’s a tradition to many there, and I’m lucky to say I’m a part of it.

Don't punish the kids that love swimming and challenging themselves physically and mentally! We should all be thankful that they want to get off the computer, phone. iPads etc.

My husband, son & daughter have all swam at the County pool and traveled from SFHS, Hobe Sound and Jupiter to do so!! The pool needs to remain open because Sailfish pool times cannot accommodate all those who wish to swim in Martin County!
