We Oppose the Sale of CMS land at Sedgefield Middle School

Don't sell the land.

As a property owner in the neighborhood, open space is critical. Our schools should be looking to the future, vs trying to get a quick a buck.

This city needs more green space and parks. Do the right thing.

Please keep this beautiful land for the community. No more development!

Developers are planning on building lots of condos behind the new Harris teeter at the end of Poindexter also. I feel that our community shouldn't and couldn't handle such high density housing. And the last thing our families need is to tear our park up for more of the same. Save our green spaces for what makes them valuable-being naturally green.

One of the reasons we moved here was the green spaces. We lose these, we lose one of the main attractions of this city.

Need more green space in the Sedgefield area

We need trees and open spaces. We don't need any more town home developments! Stop destroying Charlotte with your greed!

One of two criteria for defining surplus property is 'topography' that's tough to build on. That's obvously not the case here as the buyer is a builder who plans to build on the site. Why not at least wait a year and see what proposals for the parcel's use might emerge. The land will fetch more a year from now if the year passes with no agreed-upon future use under current ownership. At least possible uses weighed in a public forum will give the land its due consideration. Paul Reinhartsen

With all the good infill properties taken developers are turning to less suitable tracks of land to continue profiteering. McDonald Ave is already burdened with over use from auto traffic. What little park and green space is in grasp of the neighborhood needs to be preserved, not only for the humans but for the many types of wildlife that live in the wooded buffer between the school and adjoining residential properties. Say no to the developers and yes to park expansion.

We walk thru this park almost daily. This patch of land supports several raptors including owls, hawks and an osprey. Plus lots of bunnies and an occasional heron. It would be a huge loss to the neighborhood to lose this piece of green space. The connectivity to Dilworth is huge as well. We ride our bike to the Lowe's and grocery store and Other shops on Park Road.

Please don't sell it!

The members of the CMS School Board are, once again, being extremely short-sighted and are not thinking of the overall good for the families they are supposed to represent. Our green-space properties should not be sold -- or, as in the case of the property next to Jay M. Robinson Middle School, "leased" for $1 a year for 50 years to a private entity -- until the people who will be affected by such a sale have their say. These transactions should be out in the open well before they are finalized -- the secrecy just confirms the fact that the Board knows the people would be against the action! The sale of this property must be negated!

We need this green space to counter the huge increase in housing density in the South End. This space is also an important transportation corridor for bikes and walkers.

I oppose the sale of the land!
