We Oppose the Sale of CMS land at Sedgefield Middle School

I oppose this strongly, please save this and not be a sellout for the money!

I want to keep this green space. McDonald avenue gets too much traffic as it is. The proposed homes that will go in this area do not fit with the remainder of the neighborhood, and I don't want to put up with the added delay and inconvenience of construction near my home. I'm not certain how Pulte homes got buying rights here- sounds like corruption to me.

We need to protect our green space and our neighborhood park. We don't need more developers encroaching on our schools and open spaces. Help CMS make the right decision to protect and preserve this land.

Leave the land alone

This is valuable green space in an area that has had intense multi-unit housing in recent years. School board members and commissioners should not make this property sale decision solely on the basis of school needs. This decision is complicated, and the citizenry deserves a comprehensive approach that considers the many ramifications of selling this county property to a private developer.

The very things that have attracted people to Charlotte, such as this green space in a historic neighborhood, are being destroyed. Isn't this counter-intuitive? Please keep this green space green and think large (meaning the larger community context, not the number of profitable units!) when it comes to development.

It does not help a city to ruin it's green space!

I am concerned about the loss of green space, wildlife habitat and walking thoroughfare between Sedgefield and Dilworth. I do appreciate the School Board's financial dilemma and hope that the County Park and Recreation will support maintaining this property."

I've lived in Sedgefield all of my life and I've stayed because of my love for the area. The tree, the green space all bring back memories of what used to be here ... A beautiful dairy farm.

This green space is very valuable to Sedgefield residents. We're seeing our green/park spaces decrease tremendously due to development. This needs to stop to keep Sedgefield desirable for current and future residents.

While I support greater density in the Sedgefield / Dilworth area, the current use of the land as a pocket park provides much needed green space and contributes to public health, stormwater infiltration and improved air quality.

I oppose the sale of this property for private development. The City and County should purchase the property and preserve it as a public park or natural green space. This neighborhood also does not need additional vehicle traffic which will cause congestion and safety issues.

What what people

The property is one of the few remaining green spaces in this area. We need to preserve it. We already have a significant amount of (over) development in this area. Don't take one of the few remaining green spaces and put up more townhouses.

Charlotte shouldn't throw away what parks and recreation areas we have.

I oppose the sale of this land, and fully support the preservation of this unique green space in central Charlotte that serves as a gathering space for neighbors and a home for wildlife.

Please block the sale of this land to a developer. There is a hawk family living there and many ground animals who have been moved due to the building along the light rail. This land would only be in walking distance of the light rail for marathoners. Otherwise it will add cars to the streets that are already crowded. We need to keep some of our mature tree canopy in the neighborhood.

I strongly oppose this irreparable short-sighted sale. We need green space not more high density real estate.
