The Texas Memorial Museum is a Texas treasure and is home to the world's largest flying reptile discovered right here in this grand state. I always look forward to my visits to the museum and never fail to be in awe of Quetzalcoatlus hanging in the main hall. Many others are fascinated with TMM as well and it would certainly be a crime for the vast groups of children who frequent the place if it were to be compromised. Please do not slash the budget for this Austin attraction. I would grieve deeply if this UT institution were to suffer.

This museum is a family favorite, a memory of my childhood, my sons' childhoods, and now my grandchildren's. This shows a serious lack of longterm thinking and vision.

Not only do I feel this museum is a very important part of the UT campus and the research, my kids and grandkids would rather visit this one to any other in the area.

The scientific community at large depends on the continued operations of museum research and collections management to achieve collective goals. De-funding such critical institutions undermines global progress. Simple as that.

How can a city this large not have a Natural History Museum? We should be ashamed that it has come to this. Remember who cut the funding when you vote next November

The Texas Memorial Museum is an icon to Austin kids. It is fun and so educational. Please keep funding it. The museum is the first experience of UT to so many kids and is such a positive one.

TMM is an important Austin asset. I remember going there on field trips as a kid! Where else can you see dinosaurs in Austin?

My internship at TMM set me on a career path as a museum educator. Informal science education is imperative to student success in more fomarl education entities. Informal education often offers students a new environment in which to explore, a different approach to their learning, a place where curiosity can be sparked, and offers engagement and excitement that will broaden and reinforce concepts learned in the classroom. This public institution is too important to lose!

Natural science museums have played critical roles in analyzing the diversity of nature, providing genetic samples of species from broad geographic areas, and understanding the prevalence of epizootic diseases. They are key resources for public environmental education.

Every effort should be made to preserve natural history museums as a repository of natural heritage and a source of materials for research and education.
