In times of austerity, we should never underfund museums. They are educational resources that can not be restored once they are lost.

The Texas Memorial Museum is low-tech and out-dated. This is why my grandchildren love it better than any other museum they've been to. It's REAL. It's educational. It's awe-inspiring. Please find some other place to cut corners.
I'm a proud UT Law School graduate. When my son was growing up, the museum was a favorite destination for days that were too hot or cold to play outdoors. It's a wonderful place!

The collections housed at the TMM are extrememly important research resources. In my work on fossil antilocaprids I have had occassion to use the collections and refer to some of he specimens. These collections need to be properly cared for, and the University of Texas has a moral, ethicla and, likely, legal obligation to do so. Restore the funding. Cut football or some other sport instead. Cut a superfluous dean or two. But do not cut operating budgets, or personnel at the teaching or staff level.

This is one of Austin's best resources for kids. My daughter loved our visits, and it would be a shame to deprive other kids.

If you spent more time & energy making this museum more than just a hidden gem on the UT campus, you would no doubt get more visitors! It's a wonderful place.

I loved the Texas Memorial Museum as a child and I enjoy it as an adult. Generations of my family have appreciated the Texas Memorial Museum. Please don't cut funding for the museum! You should take the opposite approach and invest in the museum. If you publicized it better I am sure you would get more visitors and more revenue.

This is a genuine, worthwhile museum in that it has real exhibits with merit, as opposed to a bunch of plastic representations to view. We need more, not fewer, museums of this caliber, especially as the world becomes more high-tech.

Austin needs the Texas Memorial Museum, and with the limited budget it seems there is no way to avoid its defunction.It is an instution that is loved by generations of Austinites and visitors to the city and provides an approachable connection to the natural sciences.

A favorite museum of ours for years. Our teenager used to beg us to go every summer, and it didn't matter how many times we visited - he still wanted to go again. We now take our toddler, and he often talks about going back to the "dinosaur" museum. A tremendous resource for the community, and an accessible opportunity for students of all ages. Please keep the museum open!
