The loss of the legacy of the TMM is a serious step backwards for Texas. Their curatorial staff, museum staff, public interface, scientist interface, specimen collection and more are used on a daily basis by scientists and citizens across the state and around the world. Their cave specimen collection is irreplaceable.

The museum is a valuable scientific resource, and its collections have formed the basis for hundreds of important publications in taxonomy, biodiversity work, and cave faunal studies. The loss of neglect of these collections would be tragic.

I don't live there, but I think closing any museum is a shame. There's so little left for our children and adults to enjoy of life. Find another way to trim the budget.

I loved this museum as a child and enjoy it now when it is even better. My children loved it, too. Now it is one of my grandchildrens' favorite indoor places to go. Austin has so few museums, it would be a real shame if we should lose this one. Please find a way to fund it!

Closing such a long-standing and valuable museum is an affront to the scientific community and the people of Texas. Blocking access of research associates to collections is inexcusable. Please reverse this unconscionable policy and not only restore to the people of Texas what is rightfully theirs, but is also a part of the national and international communities.
