this is an iconic road and should be protected as a historic resource, in fact it should be made a local landmark. People need to slow down and drive the speed limit, it is horrible the amount of people that exceed the limit by 10 to 20 mph. Pinehurst and Southern Pines are missing out by not having police stationed on this road to hand out tickets.

Saving our pine trees along this road is preserving our history and the charm of Pinehurst and Southern Pines. Midland Road contributes directly to home values and tourism.

We have precedents established years ago by Elizabeth S. Ives, Katharine L Boyd, First Lady Claudia "Lady Bird" Johnson, and many others who have worked to established preservation in Moore County. Their efforts have contributed towards building and maintaining the natural beauty of the area. They, and others, set the pace. It is our honorable duty to continue the work as our generation moves forward.

Lower the speed limit and enforce it. Do not cut down trees. Any trees planted as "replacements" should be pine trees.

The traffic laws should be enforced; don't cut the trees. It is not the trees' fault it is the fault of scofflaws who need to be fined and ticketed. We are new here. The first thing that attracted us was the beauty of the trees along Midland Road. Why not reduce the speed limit and enforce it at least for a trial period. If that yields the desired results, all good. If not, then consider Plan B. Nothing lost there. But eliminating the area's distinguishing beauty cannot easily be undone.
