Midland Road must stay as it is because it is unique and as safe as any other roadway. Destroy it and destroy the character of the Sandhills. I moved here because of Midland Road's unique charm.

I have driven that road since the 1970's without incident. Cutting the trees would most likely make the road MORE dangerous in my opinion.

Petition speaks for itself.
The only areas requiring attention are near Carolina Eye Associates' entrance/exit and Pinecrest Plaza-Morganton Rd entrance/exit - neither of which requires any tree destruction whatsoever!

I agree with many of the comments that the speed limit can be reduced as opposed to removing trees if the NCDOT has determined the road to be un-safe. I agree with the comment about the trees acting as a safety barrier for this divided roadway. Why remove and then install some other type of man-made barrier that has to be repaired when ever a crash occurs.

Lower speed limit to 35. Remove some of the crossing areas. Stop this mindless expansion of roads in NC. NC DOT is out of control and afraid if they do not spend their yearly budget they will not get the same amount next year. Save tax dollars or spend them where NC really needs it-NC teacher salaries.

Keep the trees. Slow the traffic and enforce it. Or make each side single lane with a bike lane. It could be one of the most beautiful bike routes in the state!
