Midland Rd is a one of a kind beautiful road. I ride it all the time and have had no problems. You will destroy the beauty and character of the area if you do what you are proposing. The people who don't like it should drive other roads and stay off of Midland Rd.

As stated in petition, regarding crossovers,
they do not result in an unusual number of accidents, documented, nor do lefthand turns. Crossovers are a convenience, not a hazard.
Closing crossovers results in major road widening and major tree removal for new intersections at various points on Midland; and is costly.

Preserve our history & trees, please. Save taxpayers dollars & leave Midland Road with a lower speed limit.

Make a no left turns At the off ramp from US1 at Midland and add road signs showing the second ramp to take Midland toward Pinehurst. No additional improvement needed there. Close up all of the cross overs up and down Midland and again no left turns! Reduce and enforce the speed limit and save the scenic drive!

Please see link to NCDOT/Kimley-Horn Midland Road Corridor Study.
You will find there is no unusual incidence of accidents on Midland Road per traffic study - as stated in the petition. Nor is there any "safety" justification whatsoever for the extensive removal of trees which has already been done by NCDOT.
Please go to carolinajournal.com front page article regarding other current NCDOT/Kimley-Horn boondoggles .,... costing millions, at our tax expense.
