SAVE MIDLAND ROAD!! SOUTHERN PINES & PINEHURST NC

I live off Midland Road and been a resident for over 30 years and couldn't imagine it different...

Why would anyone want to cut down beautiful trees that have been there for years and years and years??? If there is a problem ...lower the speed limit! NC also needs to put into law-no cell phone use while behind the wheel of a car... Other States do it and enforce it with a hefty fine!! Maybe the death rate and roll over accident rate would go down tremendously!! Think about it NC & NCDOT ... STOP taking the beauty away from our community!!!!!

The trees do not cause the accidents.. Anyone who lives knows that there is a limited sight line on Midland.. so SLOW down. My mom lived off Midland for 23 years... people speed and pass like crazy.. that's the problem

Keep the trees please!!!! Do not erase the historical value and the beauty of a drive down Midland Rd. The trees can stay. Drivers can be patient. Or they can go another way.

Lowering speed limit and well placed stop signs could be more effective than ripping up the five mile area. And, as we have seen in the past, whatever NCDOT does to Hwy 2/Hwy 22, will most likely need additional modifications in the future. Just consider the traffic circle on Hwy22 near the airport; they made is functional at first but it was quickly out grown by designing it too small. The had the land but wanted the keep the costs down. Big trucks come through and more than once could not make the circle without going over the middle section. Airport road next to the Airport and Carolina Golf Course was redirected to take out the curve; some $1.8M spent wastefully when they could have just lowered the speed limit from 55 to 45! I called NCDOT and discussed this issue; their response was that "our engineers don't like curvy roads"; What another waste!

In my 63 years I have never seen one of those pine trees jump in front of a car. If people would pay attention there would be no accidents

Those trees have been there forever. They never jump out into the road. The issue is careless , distracted and dangerous drivers.

This is ridiculous. Leave Midland road alone!

Keep our beautiful midland rd. We don’t want some vapid suburban super street.

Why did you sign this petition? "One lane?" "Let the trees suffer damage?" You might want to reread the petition and perhaps withdraw your signature. Btw are you aware that within a couple of years automobile technology will prevent most collisions?
