395 is such a deadly highway. We’ve heard so many fatality crashes from our friends and members of the community. It’s scary having to travel this highway having children with us. The lanes need to be widened along with more patroling. Rarely do we see any chp between ridgecrest and Adelanto through 395. This highway needs to be improved before more lives are taken

I live in Ridgecrest and I drive 395 frequently to visit my parents in the city. I've seen countless people cross in the No Passing zones across the the solid yellow lines and rumble strips. I have also seen the aftermath of a head on collision involving passing a truck at night. Had I been there maybe 15 minutes sooner, I would have been involved in that wreck. After seeing that horrendous scene, and considering all the close calls I've had with people passing trucks I get anxiety and nervous at every single dip in the road (of which there are many). Due to this fear to drive the road, I've taken to avoiding the road all together and will elect to go am hour out of my way just to avoid 395. This highway needs more than a rumple strip to make it better. The section between Ridgecrest and Red Mountain has two 4 lane passing lane sections in a 22 mile stretch. The section between Red Mountain and Kramer Junction has no 4 lane section in a 26 mile stretch. Finally the section between Kramer Junction and Adelanto has one 4 lane passing lane in a 30mile stretch. This last one is unbelievable considering that this is a major truck route and tourist route, which is a perfect mix for horrific accidents. Please listen the voice of the locals who know this road and drive it frequently. At the bare minimum we need another 4 lane section between Kramer Junction and Adelanto as well as one between Kramer Junction and Red Mountain. In addition, the section with the dips in the road between Adelanto and the one 4 lane section that is already there needs a concrete barrier along the median to prohibit passing in those blind dips. Please help us put an end to the tragedies on this highway.

Making the southern portion of this highway 4 lanes needs to be a top priority! Inadequate, badly designed and dangerous!!

I drive this route on my way to Mammoth. I have been stuck behind a semi, but have waited patiently for the passing lanes; while others choose the more dangerous and sometime deadly choice (of speeding and passing).

Interesting how tortoises are considered more precious than human lives. Consider how time and money was spent to remove the few passing lanes on 395 to add the fences to save tortoise lives.

California Transportation and Safety does need to do something in regards of highway 395. K-Rails need to be put into place where no passed. That will prevent drivers from passing in area that there is no passing. Then we can move onto what needs to be done next. First one step at a time.

Provide more lanes; save life’s. I use that road to visit my hometown in the Owens Valley. Reduce the probability that I will be injured, along with countless others.

I myself habe lost loved ones and have traveled that road thousands of times. Unfortunately we are going to ha e a fight with blm and animal lovers to save the tortoise, horny toad, and reptile habitat instead of humans...that has been the ongoing fight.
