How many have to die or be injured to make a change?? Hope and pray it won't be a family member who doesn't want to change this. That might make them reconsider.

I travel 395 from southern California to Mammoth and the Sierra many times each year. The road gets congested with intense traffic with it's single lanes for long stretches between Inyokern and Adelanto. I too have see many accidents and have had close calls with cars passing illegally. The fact that Adelanto and Vicotrville have grown so much has resulted in street lights effectively stifling traffic on an otherwise congested and neglected section of freeway. Many trucks and tourists travel from southern California to the north via this corridor and it is a travesty that it is not re-routed around the towns and lights and widened as other freeways have in the state. The number of accidents attests to the highways use and need for responsible development. Caltrans and the state of California politicians and transportation services have seriously dropped the ball and are failing to protect travelers along this very busy stretch of road.

My name is Tina. My husband and I travel this road every 3 months. It is so scary that I have my husband drive. The state needs to do something about this.

I can’t tell you how many near accidents I’ve seen on this road. I’ve almost been hit by someone trying to get back into the correct lane in time to avoid a head on collision. It’s incredibly dangerous and has claimed far too many lives.

Scariest road to drive on.

I have been blessed 4 times in the past two months by my guardian angle from not being hit head on by a passing speeding vehicle crossing on the double double yellow lines . The passing lane paint stripes are not enough. There are not enough CHP or other fines to stop the dangerous unfamiliar with the road and area city drivers.

My coworkers and I drive HWY 395 three or four day a week at 5am and 6:30 PM. It's the most nerve wracking experience ever! It seems like we pass ba an accident every week or two. We have had so many close calls I've lost track. There is limited passing lane openings, so people are passing in the restricted no passing lanes. Lately I have seen a police presence which is a start, but more needs to be done.
