I drive this road for hours every week with my kids. It's a death trap. There have been countless times I've had to swerve to miss a head on collision. We need this. For the lives that could be saved.

On May 9, 2018 I lost very dear friends of mine on this stretch of road. Someone passed where they should not have causing my friend to swerve out of way. He missed them BUT lost control coming back onto the highway which then caused him to be in the path of a box truck. Both he and his wife were killed. The people in the box truck were hurt, while the individual who caused the accident kept right on going. The State of California, along with whatever governmental authority should be ashamed of themselves for allowing this situation to continue to happen. Until either the authorities can somehow figure to make money for their benefit OR one of these politicians family members gets killed on this stretch of road nothing will happen. SHAME SHAME SHAME ON YOU!!! AND PLEASE DO NOT CONTINUE TO GIVE SOME BOGUS REASONS AS TO WHY NOTHING CAN CHANGE. You’re better off not giving any response to this problem rather than making up lies as to why no changes can be made.

Sounds like Colorado's hwy 82, use to be called killer 82 before it finally became a 4 lane.

395 way too dangerous, I go around different streets, but I do have to cross it ,@Main and Bear Valley mostly Main St.

As a first few months of driving, i’m absolutely terrified of this road, yet it gets me tomany of my destinations, there is way to high of a risk being on this route, and i definitely think it needs more lanes !

Drove this hwy for over 20 yrs and I have pulled over to let people pass in my lane. And the police hardly EVER patrol it

Widening the road is the only alternative. More passing lanes would help, but it’s not a long term solution. How many more senseless deaths have to occur before our politicians do something about this "Death Trap".

I live in Apple valley and commute to us borax where I work. I have a family (2 kids one 4yo and a 2 moth old) and I call my wife every day when I get to work to let her know I made it saftley because US395 is so dangerous I have done the commute for 7 years now and have had more than my share of close calls on this road. It has gotten so much worse in the last few years because some bureaucrat made the decision to take out two of the passing lanes making it even more dangerous than before. I have seen multiple fatality Accidents on US395 due to the decision and changes. I cannot wait for Highway 58 to be completed I will gladly drive the extra mileage every day so my family doesn’t have to worry about some weekend warrior towing a travel trailer to slow for everyone’s liking and killing me. I think at very least we need more CHP present to keep some of these morons in check

People constantly pass on a double yellow line! This road needs to be fixed! Widen the road or put up a barrier as a last resort so there is no option for passing!
