As a Lake Union homeowner who paddles and kayaks on Lake Union and in the area of the proposed airstrip, I oppose any effort to take this publicly owned asset and turn it over to a for profit company. Public assets owned by the people should not be ceded to private control.

This would be ridiculous private appropriation of public recreation space.

Yea, hard no on this one. WTF are they thinking. Nobody wants noisy seaplanes further bothering the local community, and especially not disrupting pleasant boat traffic and lake culture that makes this city so great!
Again, hard no on this nonsense.

Lake Union belongs to all of Seattle and a large portion of it should not be privatized for use by a couple companies and their wealthy clients. Please keep our city’s lake clear and accessible to us all!

Barring the public from use of public land so that a polluting nuisance of a company can profit is indefensible.

Lake Union belongs to all of the residents of the greater Seattle area, not just to Kenmore Air. They should not be able to unilaterally secure access of the bulk of Lake Union of their own purposes.

Are you going to change maritime law so that seaplanes have right of way? Keep the lake for the city!

This is ridiculous! I could see it if it were a bigger lake like Lake Washington, but Lake Union isn't that big for such a division! This is just greedy business trying to bullying the common folks, in my opinion. Other than tourism and news, there's no urgent need for seaplanes on Lake Union!

seaplanes are essential and an important part of our transportation network, but granting exclusive use of public property to a private organization is horrible governance.

Lake Union is already so busy with personal, commercial boating traffic. Our houseboat friends deserve the opportunity to enjoy the water.

I can understand why Kenmore would want to have a dedicated chunk of the lake, but water-users and planes have coexisted well so far (don't know of any disasters), so let's not donate a large section of the lake for the priority-use of a commercial enterprise.

FACT: The runway is NOT off limits and would allow boat, kayak and other water traffic to transit it; not idle in its space.
This is a benefit to boat and seaplane traffic as it promotes a safe environment for both. Support a local small business!
