As a pilot myself I find Kenmore's arguments to be infuriating. Complete overreach in the interest of corporate profits rather than safety.

Lake Union is a public waterway and must be open to everyone. I understand marking the "runway" for everyone's safety but it needs to be open when a seaplane is not taking off or landing.

The proposed airstrip on Lake Union must be blocked, as it gives a private company exclusive use of huge piece of a public waterway! The lake belongs to all of us, and to grant access to a private company who’s planes still use leaded fuel goes against all of our current carbon reduction policies! Please stop this project from going forward!!

We live on Lake Union and the noise is already at a tipping point. I support a public hearing and a comprehensive plan for Seattle's Lake Union involving all stakeholders. This would be a huge mistake for everyone but Kenmore Air. Public servants need to think about the public rather than the corporate entities. Quality of life is so important, and there would be no going back.

Seaplanes have a place on the lake, and their rights are already defined by federal water use regulations. They have the lowest rights and priority. Do not allow big money to change destroy Lake Union like so many other Seattle icons that have been lost to big money and uncontrolled development.

No single entity should have exclusive control of such a large portion of a lake that is shared by so many. I live on the lake, and have seen that the temporary buoys are ignored by all, especially given that many lake users are tourists, who have no idea what the buoys are for. I have flown on Kenmore, but I also boat, fish, kayak, and paddleboard around the lake, and do not want to see any constraints. Everyone should be allowed to use ALL of the lake.

I live on Queen Anne and enjoy beautiful Lake Union as a place of incredible diversity of activity. It is wonderful and amazing that it can be enjoyed by so many. It is beautiful, boaters enjoy it for the many different and diverse types of boating available: kayaking, sailing, as well as pleasure craft of all kinds. And seaplanes use it. In moderation, all of these activities can flourish. The proposed plan will destroy the delicate balance that currently makes Lake Union so appealing by increasing the amount of seaplane use. Seaplanes in moderation are charming and add to the economic diversity of the area. Seaplanes displacing boating will become a noisy and polluting (lead fuel anyone?) nuisance that will lower the quality of life for everyone who currently enjoys the lake, while enriching the few who will benefit economically. There is enough of that going on - we need to preserve this beautiful lake as essentially a public park that all can enjoy. The seaplane traffic in moderation is fine. Nobody is complaining. But it must not be allowed to displace existing uses and enjoyment by so many of this natural resource treasure in the heart of our city. No. Just absolutely no.

I live nearby and strongly believe there should be a hearing before we get an increase in air traffic. What I have heard to date sounds as if it will have a negative impact on a crucial community resource for recreation and wildlife.
