I find that Seattle Seaplane Services is far more egregious in their flight operations on the lake and yet I see no mention of that operater in your complaints. I do not favor anything so draconian as eliminating all Seaplane operations on the lake.
I believe safety could be greatly enhanced by requiring recreational rental businesses ( paddle boards,kayaks,canoes, rowboats ect.) To adhere to a set of rules requiring customers to avoid the central track on the lake. Perhaps the possibility of
some liability on the part of the business owners

As much as I love being out on the lake with the occasional seaplane landing or taking off it’s become way too frequent and the “buoy system” has exacerbated the problem. For decades we’ve had a small handful of buoys on Lake Union as “aids to navigation” force users. We don’t need the additional “clutter” of a semi-permanent man made flashing “landing strip” down the middle of our lake for the virtual sole use of one company. Pilots need to be able to land and take off safely using standard right-of-way rules like everyone else - and if they don’t feel safe, they may need to curtail or cease operations - just like everyone else! The lake is the people’s lake, not a company’s lake. Finally, we absolutely do not need Habor Patrol “enforcement” of an “advisory” warning system barking orders to lake users to steer clear during otherwise pleasant days on the public waterways. Harbor patrol needs to enforce existing laws and regulations to keep all users safe - NOT be a mercenary megaphone for the desires of a private company. In my humble opinion the buoys must go. And the seaplanes may need to go as a result of increased use by the people of this city.

As an Eastlake paddle boarder resident who moved to the area for its proximity to beautiful lake union, I sincerely hope that this initiative to add an airstrip to lake union is scrapped. The lake is for residents to enjoy, get outdoors and experience the beauty of Seattle. It is not to be sanctioned off, leaving those who visit it and love the water unable to enjoy all it has to offer.

This is a public lake and a public resource and should not be divided up or cordoned off for the benefit of one company. (Plus, the current method of planes landing and taking off has worked since 1916; it can work now.)

This sounds like a giveaway of a valuable public resource to a private corporation, I vote no. Sailboaters like me should have access to sail on the lake.
