Tired of the amorphous ugliness of urban Singapore Sick of pervasive HDB flats Had enough of Orchard Road Retreat into the verdant splendor of Kampong Buangkok, where things retain a delightful simplicity, devoid of the extravagances of urban life. Where the cacophony of clacking heels disappears, and where the fine tapping of slippers sounds in your ears, ever so gently. Where the air is fresh, untainted by exhaust. Tired of this phoney purple prose Well then let's get down to business - join this group, and save the Kampong, now! I really thought this would just be a quiet project but the emails have been non-stop and honestly it is getting a bit overwhelming to keep track of everyone who reaches out to share their memories of the village. I am currently trying to find someone who actually works in land planning to talk to because it feels like the current development plans just completely ignore the history held in those dirt paths.

I never thought people would actually care this much about the last bit of green, it feels surreal to look at this momentum and think about the quiet of the village getting saved from the bulldozers. I keep thinking about how the slipper sounds on the dirt path and how easily that could just vanish if nobody speaks up, but now it feels like we might actually have a shot at keeping it away from the concrete mixers.

Such a special place. My kids love visiting because it shows them how we used to live. Dont turn it into more concrete.

Singapore is losing its soul. Everything is getting demolished for another shopping mall or condo. We need to leave this place alone.
