There are no dangerous curves on Hwy 174, but there are a few people that travel it to fast. In fact, if it wasn't for the curves, they would go much faster. This proposal is not only unwise but, it will be completely fruitless. This project won't achieve what they want. It will only cause more accident to happen on a road that's already pretty safe.

I consider this a scenic highway. Yes, people speed everyday and cause accidents, but making it straighter and wider is not better unless you expand all of 174. Bad idea. PUT THE MONEY TOWARDS WHERE WE REALLY NEED IT.

I live on Hwy 174 and witness speeders everyday. $28.5 million dollars and all the destruction is another boondoggle. All this will do is make it so drivers can speed even more. Unless you are going to widen all of 174, this is a total waste of money. Use it where we really need it. Thank you. Sue Ghilotti

This project would destroy the natural beauty of this road, and would actually make it less safe. This sort of project will only encourage 174 to become another 49.

The Caltrans proposal is a one size fits all solution for an area that is extremely unique culturally, historically, and ecologically. A such, we need an alternative plan, tailored to the needs of local homeowners, visitors, commuters--as well as local flora and fauna.

I have made this beautiful commute to and from work on Hwy 174 for twenty six years without incident. It would take far less money to increase a CHP presence to curtail those who drive recklessly than to spend 28.5 million dollars on a project that will embolden people to drive even faster.

$28 million to decrease travel time by 1-2 minutes seems short sighted and expensive. Spend the money fixing the roads that need repairs.

This is a horrible project. Take the budget and transfer it to fix Highway 49 from Auburn to Grass Valley.
