CalTrans says the decision was made after they considered public comments. In fact, we had no notice until the informational open house a couple of months ago!

I am of the opinion cutting down 1700 tress, especially in light of the beetle epidemic, is a horrible idea. Removing vegetation, basically stealing property from homeowners and spending millions to straighten this road is not only poor management but will likely cause more speeding and more accidents. Focus on 49, a much more traveled hiway.

We moved here to get away from cement city! We do not agree that Highway 174 is unsafe if you drive responsibly!

Spend the money on highway 49. Make more of a CHP Presence on highway 174. Don't ruin the beauty of highway 174.

Seriously. Save the money and put it towards HWY 49. We need something done on that heavily traveled HWY. leave 174 alone. I love that drive.

Don't ruin our beautiful Highway 174! Widening it will only allow drivers to drive faster and make it more unsafe.

Get off your phones and enjoy the ride. It's plenty safe if you can drive. What about the rest of scenic 174?? It's all curves and you just have to pay attention. Please leave it be. We can't change everything for a few bad drivers.

dont do it. The making it wider only creates more speed.

I live 3 houses down from 174. I bought my house because of how this area looks. There are other options Caltrans, you're smarter than this I hope. Time to come up with Plan B which doesn't include acquiring peoples property and destroy what we have come to love in this town.

What a waste of time and money. CHP needs to enforce a zero tolerance on 174.

Please do not destroy the 174 corridor. This is a beautiful addition to our community and a coveted location for its natural beauty.

Save the highway by installing a signal light at Greenhorn. A light was installed at LaBarr Meadows and it seems to be helping. So is the one that was recently installed on Brunswick rd.

Unnescessary project and expenditure of our tax dollar. The loss of trees, habitat and a road thar should be enjoyed at a slow pace far outcries the need to be correct the meandering historical geological curves of 174. What's the need to rush to get from point A to point B. th There isn't any. Take Hwy 49 or move out of the area if you're in a hurry!
