30 million dollars would be better spent elseware..CHP should patrol it along with 49.

CalTrans you can not do this and destroy beautiful scenery. Making it wider will only make people drive faster and cause more accidents. Leave it alone.

My husband and I would HATE to loose this beautiful winding country road, which is one of the reasons we bought our home here. I think widening it would just encourage speeders. Another wasteful government project!

This project is ill conceived and ill planned. This money should be spent on making Highway 49 safer by putting in a median. I am a resident of Nevada County in the Grass Valley/Nevada City Area and I oppose this project.

I am outraged this is even a possibility. If people have a problem traveling this road then they should take an alternate route.

This project will affect all residents along 174. I live on Chattering Pines and already have difficulty getting onto the Highway. It's already like a racetrack. Widening along the two miles will just contribute to the speeding which in turn will up the accidents. Most accidents along 174 are one vehicle accidents caused by speeding or distracted driving

There's no need to widen the highway that much. People already drive fast & widening it will increase the amount of people speeding. There is actually enough space already on the shoulder to widen the highway 4 plus feet.

I drove Hwy 174 to and from work for over 15 years and loved it. This plan will ruin a lovely highway. People can make it safer by slowing down and enjoying the beauty.
