Cal Trans should put this money to work on Highway 49 and leave us alone.

A total waste of money and unfair to residents that border the proposed section. NO, NO, NO!

Widening this stretch isn't going to slow down the drivers on this toad. They're only going to speed up because they see this highway as their personal raceway. All you're going to do, in the end, is get rid of a lot of trees, acquire more land (as if Cal Trans needs the land), spend alot of the state's money only to see an increase in accidents along this roadway because people who don't live alon this route refuse to slow down. And niether does any of the planners of this project, as evidence of this insane project.

We love our highway the beautiful way it is! We do not need to tear down more land to invite more traffic.

We moved from the Bay Area because of the beauty and tranquility Grass Valley has to offer. Please do no turn this area into a congested mess. Let people slowdown and enjoy.

Between the 8 miles from Chicago Park to Grass Valley they want to put in bike paths in a 2 mile stretch? How does that make sense?

Stop this now. Make some safety modifications and bike path for sure. Keep it rural and beautiful

This is a huge waste of money and resources. Hwy 174 is a scenic corridor that has an adequate speed limit for travel between Grass Valley and Colfax. Widening the road will only encourage faster and riskier driving. Additional signage, permanent rumble strips, CHP traffic cameras (to ticket speeders) will all be better steps than clear cutting a 2 mile swath of this picturesque California Highway. How about CalTrans spend a little more time fixing the exceptionally dangerous stretch of Hwy 49 between Grass Valley and Auburn, there are severe accidents and deaths regularly on that stretch of road. Most locals are hesitant to even drive it, given a choice, during certain times of the day. Our state is struggling to balance budgets and to do best by its citizens -- please pay attention to those that actually live on this stretch of road . . . We do not want this project!! We are not interested in the widening!! and we do not believe that there is any genuine problem to be solved by the insane destruction of this stretch of road and the property owners who call this area of the county home. . . Thank you for thinking about us, and for doing the analysis, but please take our feelings, needs and desires into consideration and abandon this project before a tremendous amount of money is wasted for nothing gained.

Don't do it. It's fine the way it is. Stop changing our town to make the city folk that move here happy. Go back to the city.

Please stop this project. It will not help this highway, and in fact, will most likely create more traffic, faster speeds, and take away the beauty of this area.

That's wrong and the idea should be scrapped and forgotten. I have investigated auto accidents for 27 years and this will make the 174 less safe in my opinion. Stop now.
