The area of which they want to remove the trees is not even the area the accidents have happened. Use the money to fix the area of unsafety. The area of the bear river bridge. That's the area that is unsafe.

Keep Nevada county rural. Curves are good. If you can't drive curves take 49.
I am apposed to widening hwy 174. Not necessary and a waist of money.

I travel Hwy 174 back & forth daily as I live on Lakewood Lane. I love Hwy 174 just the way it is. Don't ruin our scenic country highway! Don't waste 28.5 million dollars on an very unnecessary destructive project destroying natural beauty & the trees along Hwy 174! Don't mess with our highway!

This is an unnecessary expense and there is no need to ravish all the land and trees. There are other roads that this money could help- hwy 49!!

I oppose the Caltrans Project to widen Highway 174. The area needs to be patrolled in order to inforce the traffic laws already in place. Widening the road will only increase speeds and result in more major injury collisions. This is the current problem on Highway 49. Inforce the traffic laws!!!

Any time you straighten out a road you create MORE accidents than stop. You can still put in a turn lane for Greenhorn Access, but it dosent have to be 2 miles.
A bike lane for 2 miles is ridiculous, Where do they go after that ? Put the money where it'll do more good.

I live along Hwy 174 just past Maple, and people regularly speed on the straighter parts of the road, making simple actions such as turning onto my road or checking mail highly dangerous. Straightening and widening the highway would be a bigger safety problem.

This project is too much. Put the funding into HWY 49 instead! That place needs a lot more work!

Just completely unnecessary. It’s a nice drive and perfectly safe as it is and people have a right to keep their land.

Do not widen, do not cut 1700 trees. There are better ways than destroying this beautiful highway.

Caltrans is proposing a project that will adversely affect safety along the highway. A better plan would be to slow traffic and construct shoulders along the highway. This is a rural residential area and the road that travels through it should reflect that character.

Save 174. Widening it and straightening the hwy will just make people speed faster. The accidents are cause by people NOT paying attention. It's not the road. It's the people.
