I grew up here. Yes 174 is narrow, yes it has a problem. But the clear cutting of the beautiful trees is not the answer. Speed is the problem. Make more turn outs for slow cars. If it is widen traffic will only speed up and make it MORE dangerous.

As a thirty eight year resident of Nevada County I say NO to the proposed widening of HWY 174.
Humans should be more careful and considerate in driving.
We need our trees and robbing homeowners of their land is wrong. Big city minded folks can go live elsewhere!

Stop lights at the correct locations would be very helpful to ensure that drivers are going the safe permited speed that will allow them time to see their surrounding and react in an appropriate time. How often are accidents on this road caused by speeding or distracted drivers? Changing a road will not results in more responsible drivers.
Cutting down all these trees and taking land from the local land owners is not the only resolution and should definitely not be the final solutions to this ongoing issue.

I grew up in Nevada County, my parents live there and I'm about to move back. This is a senseless and destructive proposal, not unlike widening 49 through grass Valley decades ago at the horrible expense of the historic town. Don't do this!

I drive this road several times a week. Let's not kill precious trees to create a faster highway with more traffic.
