This is an online version of Lesley Lake's petition to save Goldhay Arts. (So please don't sign this if you have signed the paper copy!) Please sign this petition to show your support for the campaign to save Goldhay Arts, a nuch-needed and much-loved Peterborough charity that has, since 1994, provided offered adults with learning disabilities the opportunity to train and develop their artistic skills and interests in the performing and visual arts. The group aims to provide a quality service for adults with a learning disability, with an emphasis on personal development through the arts. In recent years the group has received essential funding from the Peterborough and Stamford NHS Trust but, due to various reasons (including the current economic climate) costs of running the group have risen dramatically. Unfortunately, the NHS has now advised that it cannot increase funding, which has left organisers with no choice but to announce the group's closure within the next 3 months. This sad situation means that 34 members of Goldhay Arts face the loss of a facility that has offered them much needed support for the last 16 years. The members of Goldhay Arts are some of the most vunerable in society, let's not let them down... "Adults with disabilities do not want to see Goldhay Arts closed. Goldhay Arts is more than a day service. It is our family and we do not want to be separated. If the Centre closed down we will lose our opportunities for Arts, Drama and Music in the Community." - Lesley Lake.
