Don’t cut East Ren music service. It provides so much joy to so many people.

This is such a valuable service to all our young people, arts opportunities and the chance to learn instruments is well known to support young people develop in many ways. My own son loves his singing group, getting the chance to mix with boys and girls from various schools and backgrounds.

Both my children have instrumental tuition through the East Renfrewshire music service and both sing in the choir. The service is part of what makes East Renfrewshire education system fantastic as together with the lessons the orchestra and choir give the kids so many opportunities to perform. To cut this amazing facility would be a complete travesty!

Children deserve a rounded education and opportunities to explore the arts. Education shouldnt just be about teacing the core curriculum subjects. Many children who struggle learning in school excel and find great self worth in the music. This should not be taken away.

Such a valuable service: my two daughters have benefited so much from the Saturday Music School- will my son be able to have the same opportunities when he gets old enough? Please, NO CUTS.

To loose any of the musical opportunities in East Ren would be awful. I started my musical tuition here in an East Ren primary school then took up a second instrument when I went up to secondary. I was a member of school bands and regional bands and loved all the performing, residential trips and experiences I had through East Ren music. Now my children are in an East Ren primary school I would hope they will have all the opportunities I had that enriched my school career and helped build me into who I am today.

We must not deny our children this chance to further their education by reducing the instrumental tuition. These talented musicians are not just responsible for the success of individual pupils, but the success of the orchestras in schools and eventually in Scotland. We must allow the gift of their talents to be passed on to our pupils.

The music tuition provision within East Renfrewshire is outstanding. Entering Williamwood on a Saturday morning and seeing the range of instruments being played, the breadth of orchestras and bands a child can join and the number of children participating is inspirational, as is the quality of performance. Taking part in these groups, aside from improving an individual's performance, builds confidence and a sense of community around shared interests, the benefit of which cannot be underestimated. Please reconsider these planned cuts.

Surely ERC would not be so short sighted! My daughter attended ERC music classes and orchestra. She was bright in all her subjects. Lots of research to prove how music improves a while range of skills (English, maths, team working, problem solving, emotional well-being). Surely one of out richest local authorities would not deprive its children of this opportunity.
